a field or a set of field that uniquely identifies a record in a table is known as the primary key.

for example a student table contains admno. name, dob, address so the Admno. can be identified as the primary key.

Hope this helped you.!

Answer:

In the relational model of databases, a primary key is a specific choice of a minimal set of attributes that uniquely specify a tuple in a relation. Informally, a primary key us "which attributes identify a record ", and in simple cases are simply a single attribute : a uniqueid.
