In the rolling action the velocity will be, v=Rω

At bottom-most point, velocity mostly equal to zero.

Hence, in clockwise direction, tread winds also friction acts left wards to increase.

Therefore, friction acts left side and thread unwinds, spool rotates anticlockwise direction.
