eye,
organ of vision
and light perception. In humans the eye is of the camera type, with an iris diaphragm and variable focusing, or accommodation. Other types of eye are the simple eye, found in many invertebrates, and the compound eye, found in insects and many other arthropods. In an alternate pathway to the one that transmits visual images, the eye perceives sunlight. This information stimulates the hypothalamus, which passes the information on to the pineal gland. The pineal gland then regulates its production of the sleep-inducing chemical, melatonin, essentially setting the body's circadian clock (see rhythm, biological

In the vertebrate eyes, retina blocking some light because the nerve fibers of eye goes before the retina.
The blocking leads to creating a blind spot where the fibers pass through the retina.
But in the invertebrate eyes, no blocking are present in the eye because nerve fibers of eye present behind the retina causes disrupt the retina.
From the above figure, there are four major parts of eye in both vertebrates and Invertebrates.
One is retina, second one is nerve fibre, third one is the optical nerve, and fourth one is the blind spot for the vertebrate.
The eye of an invertebrate and a vertebrate similar in design and it indicates the evolution.
