I could not believe my eyes: the compass was turning round and round and round. It was dead, too. It would not work! (a) Why did it become impossible for the writer to see? b. Due to the darkness the writer was completely unable to see the location (path in front of him) . Even he was not able to use the compass because it was completely destroyed. These reasons resulted in the twisting of the aeroplane.

c. The failure of compass could have resulted in the serious injuries to the pilot of the old Dakota or it could have also led to his death.

d. he was not able to contact anyone since he entered inside the dark clouds.
