Some patriarchal societies are also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. Patriarchy is associated with a set of ideas, a patriarchal ideology that acts to explain and justify this dominance and attributes it to inherent natural differences between men and women.

The role of institutional and ideological factors are :

- There are different institutions in our society,like economy, education, politics, culture, religion etc. Due to the existence of long running patriarchy,these social institutions also give male privileges. Now being the pillars of our society.

- There are two basic groups of ideology in our society, religious and political. And both of these ideological groups are in great favour of distributing male privileges.
