Insulin is the peptide hormone released from Beta cells of pancreatic islets which maintains the blood sugar level in the body. The lower level of insulin in the body may give rise to the Diabetes Mellitus. Insulin is the Main anabolic hormone of the body. The Production and Secretion of Glucose by the liver is strongly inhibited by the raised concentration of Insulin in the blood. Insulin regulates the metabolism of Essential nutrients like Carbohydrates, Proteins, fats.
