The meristem lying in between the regions of permanent tissues, is called intercalary meristem.

Intercalary meristem is a type meristematic tissue which is found at the nodes of the plant.
Intercalary meristem is the meristem at the base of the leaves.
These tissues are very active.
They have a dense cytoplasm.
They have thin cellulose walls, have prominent nuclei.
They lack vacuoles because they are delicate, don't need the help of vacuoles, and as they form at the developmental stage of leaf.
