In the past, people entirely depended on rivers and lakes for their day to day activities like bathing, washing clothes and utensils and even for drinking water. Thanks to the development of the society and the establishment of industries, this water is no more potable as industrial wastes are dumped into nearby water bodies. Due to deforestation and global warming, rivers and lakes are drying up today. It is important to save our water bodies as they have helped us in the past and will also help us in the future. Even though our Earth consists of more water than land, only 1% of it is freshwater and usable. 97% of it is salty and is found in oceans and seas while the rest 2% is found in icebergs and glaciers. Today, we are misusing that 1% of water by using it excessively. It is the need of the hour to save water as many countries are suffering from water scarcity. In some places, not a single drop of water is found and because of this, many men, women and children fall prey to dehydration which may lead to many serious cases in the future. So, start saving and stop wasting.
