internal fragmentation is the wasted space within each allocated block because of rounding up from the actual requested allocation to the allocation granularity. external fragmentation is the various free space holes that are generated in either in your memory or disk space.

The key difference between internal fragmentation and external fragmentation is that in internal fragmentation fixed sized memory blocks are assigned to process whereas in external fragmentation variable sized memory blocks are assigned to process.
