The largest city of Pakistan, Karachi is the sixth populous city of the World. The city of lights is known for its food and especially for its beaches, but there is so much more about Karachi we all are unaware of.

1- Karachi’s First Name Was Not KOLACHI

We always have read in our history books that Karachi’s first name was Kolachi, named after a woman “Mai Kolachi”, but this is not true!

Karachi was first named Krokola under Alexander Krokola. It later changed to Debal by Muhammad Bin Qasim and Arabs, then to Kolachi in 1792 and then finally to Karachi!

2- Asia’s Biggest Christian Cross

A Pakistani Christian man, Parvez Henry Gill built a 140 ft long Christian Cross at “Gora Qabristan Cemetry, Karachi.

This is the Asia’s biggest Christian Cross which is in the city where 90 percent of the people are Muslims

3- Third Largest Mosque

That’s right, Karachi has the third largest mosque after Makkah and Madinah. Yes, you read it right! The mosque’s name is the “Grand Jamiah” and it is in Bahria Town Karachi.
