Explanation:

In oxygen there are two lone pairs and the given medium is acidic , thats why oxygen will attract hydrogen and there will be the elimination of water and nitrogen will donate its hydrogen to maintain the acidic medium . And also nitrogen is a good electron donor , so it will donate its electrons to the carbon and oxygen being highly electronegative will take its electron and eliminate as water .

The same mechanism will be followed in all the reactions of 12.5 .
