INTRODUCTION TO BIOFUEL - Biofuel belongs to non-renewable resource(which cannot regenerate ,ones it is utilized) Many developing countries are encouraging for the installation of biogas plants to meet out the demand of fuel.India is one of the pioneer countries in biomass technology.
DEFINITION OF BIOFUEL:Biomass is organic material of biological origin that is ultimately derived from the fixation of carbon dioxide by trapping solar energy during photosynthesis. The energy produced by this is called as BIOFUELS.
Materials used to produce biogas from biowastes are:There are two sources of biowaste i.e., plant and animal for biogas production.
Biomass obtained from plants is aquatic or terrestrial in origin examples are trees, shrubs, crops, grasses, algae, agricultural and forest residues.
Biomass generated from animals include cattle dung manure from poultry, goat, sheepand slaughter houses, fisheries waste, etc.
Cattle dung is most potent for biogas production.Besides dung(gobar),agricultural residue, apple pomace and deteriorated or dumped wheat grains are also proved to be a good source for biogas production.
