Self esteem will prevent you from participating in risky behaviours as often times teenagers or people in general tend to do anything to please their friends and peers because they either don't know their identity or have low self esteem. It's important to know who you are as knowing who you are causes you to be sufficient in yourself and be content with what you have. Most teenagers in modern times fall prey to all manner of schemes because their parents are often not around to inculcate in them the virtues and values that will birth self esteem and self identity in them. The conducive environment therefore must be created in the home so teenagers will not fall prey to the peer pressures that are rife amongst them.
