Iodine is consumed due to its addition to fatty acid. Therefore the coloured solution becomes colourless But when the same procedure is followed for vanaspati ghee,a similar colour is not observed. As vanadpati ghee is saturated hydrocarbon the________reaction does not occur there

Saturated Alkane Hydrocarbon is the carbon carbon bond seen in Vanaspati ghee.

A process called 'Hydrogenation' is carried out in converting unsaturated alkene hydrocarbon into saturated alkane hydrocarbon.

Vegetable oils are converted into vanaspati ghee by hydrogenation (treating with hydrogen). Here, unsaturated carbon-carbon double bonds  are converted into saturated fatty vanaspati ghee.
