In the solid state , they don't conduct electricity .

Answer :

Ionic Compounds are poor conductors of heat in the solid state.

The reasons are:

  • Ions flow only if the medium of exchange is easy for them to move without any hindrance.
  • Ions always dissociate into ions only in aqueous medium as solids dont allow ions to move.

Due to these, the ions won't be able to travel to a large distance in case of solids and hence they dont conduct heat in solid state.

Thanks !
