Here comes the most repeated question in our School in Chemistry

However I would like to share you the answer

In solid state, ions are held together by strong electrostatic forces and are not free to move about within the solid. Hence, ionic solids do not conduct electricity in solid state. However, in molten state or in solution form, the ions are free to move and can conduct electricity.

Coz when in solid state between them there is a strong intermolecula force which keeps the atoms held strongly. But when it is heated their bond weakens and free molecules will b formed which then conducts electricity
