We learn from the given instance that living beings require oxygen( present in air) for survival whereas non-living things have no life and hence no such requirement.

* An insect is a living creature that requires oxygen for respiration and other important systemic activities.

* The biscuit has no such requirement, however, on coming in contact with air it becomes soft or brittle.

* It may be due to crystalisation of starch in biscuits that make it brittle or the presence of sugar that absorbs water and makes it soft.
