Given:

✰ Length of a carpet = 3 m

✰ Breadth of a carpet = 2 m

✰ Length of a room = 4 m

✰ Breadth of a room = 3 m

To find:

✠ Area of room which is left uncarpeted.

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first! First we will find the area of the carpet by using formula of the area of rectangle, then we will find the area of the room also by using formula of the area of rectangle. After that, we will subtract the area of carpet from the area of room to get the area of a room which is left on carpeted. One must take care while doing calculations in such questions.

Let's find out...!

Area = length × breadth

➛ Area of a carpet = 3 × 2

➛ Area of a carpet = 6

➛ Area of a room = 4 × 3

➛ Area of a room = 12 m²

Now,

➛ Area of room which is left uncarpeted = Total area of a room - Area of a carpet ( i.e, area of a room which is carpeted )

➛ Area of room which is left uncarpeted = 12 - 6

➛ Area of room which is left uncarpeted = 6 m²

The area of room which is left uncarpeted = 6 m²
