Bagalkot, Belgaum, Dharwad, Shimoga and Uttara Kannada districts of Kalaburagi division have Iron ore deposits. Bababudan iron and Kudremukh belts represents the massive magnetite type of ores, and mainly they occur in the form of the banded magnetite quartzites.
