Hi ,

7 , 4 , 1 , - 2 ,.... , is an A. p

a = 7 ,

d = a2 - a1

d = 4 - 7 = - 3

Let an = -292

a + ( n - 1 ) d = - 292

7 + ( n - 1 ) ( -3 ) = - 292

( n - 1 ) ( - 3 ) = - 292 - 7

= - 299

n - 1 = ( - 299 ) / ( - 3 )

n = ( 299 / 3 ) + 1

n = ( 299 + 3 ) / 3

n = 302 /3

n is not an integer ,

Therefore ,

- 292 is not a term in given A . P

I hope this helps you.

An= a+(n-1)d
-292=7+(-3n)+3
-292=10-3n
-3n=-302
n=302/3
Since the n terms will come in fraction therefore it is not a term of the A.P
