Explanation:

a) The refractive index of medium 2 with respect to medium 1 can be written in two ways. i)1n2

ii) n21

b) Denser are rarer is a relative term. We compare the density of different materials.

The increasing order of density is air, kerosene, glass, diamond.

Answer:

The increasing order of the refractive indices is  Air, kerosene, glass and diamond.

Explanation:

  • A Denser medium is defined as when the speed of the light is relatively more it is called as optically rare medium.
  • When a speed of the light in a medium is less it is called as optically denser medium.
  • It is a substance with higher density and it is heavier in weight.
  • The Denser are rarer and it is a relative term.
  • The density is compared with the different materials rationally.

  • The increasing order of density is:

Air, kerosene, glass and diamond.

Air:

An air is a invisible gaseous mixture that is surrounded by a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen.

The refractive indices of the air is 1.

Kerosene:

Kerosene is a light fuel which is obtained from the petroleum.

The refractive indices of the kerosene is 1.44

Glass:

A glass is a hard substance which is transparent and can made up with fusing sand.

The refractive indices of the Glass is 1.5

Diamond:

A diamond is stone which is colorless in the from of pure crystalline and it is harder in nature.

The refractive indices of the diamond is 2.42
