Ammeter is connected in SERIES.

Ammeter is connected in series as we want to measure current through a circuit. When in Series the SAME current flows thru ammeter and the circuit.SO we measure the current in circuit.
and the resistance provided by ammeter is minimum hence connected in series to measure actual amount of current.
rresistance of Ammeter is small, so that measured value is very close to actual resitance.
