Element is slightly different than atom. It isn't real, so you can't touch it. Element is a species of atoms having the same number of protons. For example, there are three types of atoms for hydrogen element H: protium (H with 1 proton and 1 electron), deuterium (H with 1 proton, 1 neutron and 1 electron) and tritium (H with 1 proton, 2 neutron and 1 electron). There are different atoms, you can touch them. But we call them together as hydrogen element.

Answer:

An element is a substance that is made entirely from one type of atom. For example, the element hydrogen is made from atoms containing a single proton and a single electron. If you change the number of protons an atom has, you change the type of element it is.
