Therefore,
by 1st condition,
x = y +3.
:. x - y = 3. .... (equation 1)
by 2nd condition,
x + y = 39. .... (equation 2)
Adding equation (1) and (2),
x + y = 39

x = 42/2
:. x = 21.
Therefore,
put x = 21 in equation (2),
x + y = 39
21 + y = 39
:.y = 39 - 21
:. y = 18.
