Is bright orange pulvery backside of mirror mercury II oxide?

I have an old mirror recovered from trash that has a bright-orange pulvery substance on it's backside. The front of the mirror is still reflecting but has darker spots that look like remnants of dried-out water drops. All information I could find on the Internet suggest that a mercury mirror's backside should be of a dark silver color
