LCM => Least Common Multiple
GCF => Greatest Common Factor
LCM:
- LCM is abbreviated as Least Common Multiple. It is the method that helps to find out the smallest multiple of two or more numbers.
- It (LCM) is the number that divisible by both the given numbers. for example - lcm of 8 and 6 is 24. The number 24 is divisible by both the numbers 8 and 6.
HCF/GCF:
- HCF is abbreviated as Highest Common Factor. It is also known as the Greatest Common Divisor(GCD).
- HCF is the highest number which divides each of the two or more numbers is called the Highest Common Factor. For example, taking two numbers 12 and 20. The number 4 is the Highest common factor of both numbers.
Continue Division Method: (GCF)
- We use the continued division method for finding the highest common factor of two or more numbers.
- First, Divide the larger number by smaller numbers.
- Then the remainder becomes divisor and the divisor becomes dividend. This will continue until the remainder is 0.
- The divisor which does not leave a remainder is the H.C.F.
Common Division Method: (LCM)
- we use the common division method for finding the least common factor of three or more numbers.
- First, write the given numbers in a row separately by commas.
- Then divide those numbers by a common prime factor until reaching the prime numbers.
- Finally, multiply the prime factors. The product of the prime factors is the L.C.M.
