Is dc shunt moter oprate on ac? If no why? If yes how?

 Effect of AC supply on DC Shunt Motor: ... So you can say that a DC Shunt motorcan run on AC Supply. I also agree with you but it will notrun perfectly because, As themotor is DC so the field and armature winding made forDC supply.
