Is "Ether" a type of functional group ?

yobaby: ether is an organic compound...it contain oxygen attached with two alkyl or aryl group they have general formula R–O–R′
yobaby: you can name it too like......CH3-CH2-O-CH3 is called ethyl methyl ether or methoxyethane. The smaller, shorter alkyl group becomes the alkoxy substituent. The larger, longer alkyl group side becomes the alkane base name. Each alkyl group on each side of the oxygen is numbered separately
