Is Gupta and Bansal of same gotras

Agrawal is the name of our Agresan community. I dont know much but Bansal , Ansal , Kansal , garg, Goyal , Gupta come under AGresan community. these are all gotras . Agrwal however is not a gotra. Its like you are from Madhya Pradesh but when u introduce yourself abroad you say you are an Indian. In this case Agrawal is equivalent to " Indian " and gotras like Bansal are equivalent to " your native state" . 
Now some people prefer using Agrawal instead of their gotras like Goyal or Garg while some ( for ex me I use bansal) use their gotras. Hoever , anyone of the Agresan community can use Agrwal as their surname.
