What is India→ nation-state or state-nation?

State

A state is a political association that is run by and through lawsphysical force  is used to implement lawsAll those who  follow the legal framework become its citizens.

Nation

The people are the nation.

There are 3 main conditions for people  to constitute a nation: common

MotherlandHistoryCulture etc…

Nation state

a geographical territory (state)  having people belonging to same (nation) culture, language, religion, etc..

1 State having 1 nation.

Nation stateoriginated in Europe in 1800s, whenever there was a mismatch b/w nation orstate, 2 options existed

Alter state// geographical area

Alter nation // culture

If we talk about india

It’s a state–a common geographic territory

it’s a nation →  India people have common

History– common anti imperial struggle etc..Religion– majority is hindu & under art 25 → sikhs / buddh /jains are also hindu Language– we speak almost same language (if not same, its slight variation wrt states)

But we are not nation state but STATE NATION → A group of people having common language,culture etc living in diff states.

Why we didn’ tmade nation state

Diversity →India has immense diversity & its  not convenient / advisable to alter nation (religion/culture), Partition of 1947 had already took  placeFederalism → Every state had its own strength hence  was advisable to create state nation so that every state propel on its on  strength

Have we succeeded?

Though wehave insurgency in 

KashmirNagalandand Manipur

But we have succeded on the whole as india for more than 65 yrs

If we would have went for nation-state, wewould also have met same fate as
