What is Foreign policy? It can be considered as a tool to pursue national interest. But, national interest is not, just, served by safeguarding territorial integrity or by upholding values that define a nation.
National interest is fulfilled only when citizens of the State live free, secure and quality life without burdens like illiteracy, disease, ignorance, etc.
So, it is obvious for a developing country like India to leverage its foreign policy to minimise the problem of development deficit and secure its national interest.
The following are a few specific examples where foreign policy is used to further India’s socio-economic development agenda.
Japan giving soft loan towards construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail with 0.1% interest and also its aid for improving roads in north east India.Israel agreeing to establish ‘strategic partnership in water and agricultural’ to help India in water conservation, desalination, waste- water treatment and its reuse for agricultural etc.Developed countries agreeing for a “peace clause” at WTO to continue our assistance to farmers through MSPs and thus ensuring our food security.
Moreover, many of India’s current flagship schemes like Make in India, Skill India, Digital India, Start-Up India,Smart City etc, involve active collaboration by foreign countries by way of sharing their expertise, technology and best practices towards the successful implementation of these schemes.

Hi,
=======:
Here is your answer,
=======:
1. The preservation of India’s territorial integrity and independence of foreign policy: The territorial integrity and protection of national boundaries from foreign aggression is the core interest of a nation. India had gained a hard earned independence from foreign rule after long time. Thus, it was natural for her to give due emphasis on the independence of foreign policy. India’s effort to strengthen Afro-Asian solidarity endorsement of principles of non-interference, in the internal affairs of other nations and finally the adoption of the policy of non-alignment should be seen in this light.
2. Promoting international peace and security: India as a ‘newly independent and developing country rightly realized that international peace and development are correlated. Her emphasis on disarmament and the policy of keeping away from the military alliances is intended to promote global peace.
