No, its not a coincidence at all..

steroids are fat soluble.. they can cross the cell membrane.. they work better as hormones.. whereas, neurotransmittors work totally different.. they js need to transmit a stimulus from one place to another in the body.. neuritransmittors should be such that they just bind to surface of the receptor of a dendron and get digested.. but steroids lack this property as they don't bind but cross the membrane.. and their molecular mass is also high.. (where as neurotransmittors should have low molecular mass)
