mother is not responsible for sex determination

father ( male) is responsible for that in human

if an individual have XX chromosome then she will be female

if XY then male

as mother produce only one type of gamete contain only one type of chromosome X

male produce two different types of gametes X and Y

when there is fusion of X and X containing gamete then female is produce

if X and Y are fuse then results in male
