RIGHT STATEMENT

All oscillatory motions are periodic motions.

WRONG STATEMENT

All periodic motions are oscillatory motions.

LET DISCUSS FIRST WHAT IS PERIODIC MOTION

DEFINITION

Periodic motion, , motion repeated in equal intervals of time.

EXAMPLE

a bouncing ball, a vibrating tuning fork, a swing inmotion, the Earth in its orbit around the Sun, and a water wave.

OSCILLATORY. MOTION

Motion which repeated itself called oscillatory motion

NOW BACK ON QUESTION

In periodic motion the motion repeated itself after a fixed time of interval and in oscillatory motion it is not important.

MORE EXAMPLE

1)For example, the earth completes one revolution around the sun in 1 year but it is not a to and fro motion about any mean position. Hence its motion is periodic not oscillatory.
