Yes, because oxidation is the removal of hydrogen atoms and addition of oxygen atoms while reduction is the addition of hydrogen atoms and removal of oxygen. In a reaction, if oxygen atom is removed then it will surely then they will join another atom or ion. In the same way, removal of hydrogen and others happen.
