1)Irrigation will save a lot of water from getting wasted
2)it can be used in the area which has very less amount of water resources
3)it provides water to the roots of the plants drop by drop so there wont be excess of water for plants and they can absorb water easily
4)irrigation system will lead to very high yeild

Answer: Yes, it is important to increase the area under irrigation because water is very essential for agriculture. In India, the rainfall is unevenly distributed in the country and if rainfall is less, then production will be low, and they will be only able to grow one crop in a season.if they have water and good irrigation facility so they can increase per hectare land.
