Answer:
Vikram Seth’s poem "The Frog and The Nightingale" is a reflection of the thought that it’s important to recognize our own talents and use it to the best of our ability and not blindly follow what others want us to do.
Explanation:
Respecting each other’s talent is important. Not everyone can be good at everything. It might be that at times other people are good at something that you are not. Competing with them to be perfect is not a wise thing to do.
In this poem, both the characters are at fault. The frog disrespected the Nightingale's singing ability and his jealousy led him to conspire against the Nightingale which finally became the reason of her death. Enjoying her music and learning from her rather than competing would have been a wise thing for the frog but he chose otherwise. On the other hand, the nightingale was not self-confident. She didn’t recognise her own talent of singing even when she was appreciated by all the creatures. Rather, she gave more importance to the frog’s views and criticism. Blindly following the frog’s sayings was the mistake she made which led to her death.
