Is it possible that the car could have accelerated to 55mph within 268 meters if the car can only accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 15 seconds?

Answer:

60 mph is 88 ft/sec  so 55 /60 * 88 = 80.7 ft sec at 55 mph

and a = 88/15 = 5.87 ft/sec^2    the maximum acceleration of the car

using 2 a s = v2^2 - v1^2 = v2^2

s = v2^2 / (2 a) = 80.7^2 / (2 * 5.87) = 555 ft

but 555 ft / 3.28 ft/m = 169 m

So the car could accelerate to 55 mph within 169 m
