p = 2(l+b)

80 = 2(l+b)

40 = L+b

L×b is equal to 400m²

l+b is equal to 40m

Yes, it is possible to design that park...but not rectangle...its a square.

side length of the sq. = 20 m

step-by-step explanation:

For the rectangular park,

Let,

the length be l

and,

the breadth be b

Now,

Perimeter = 80 m

=> 2(l+b) = 80 m

=> l+b = 40 m

=> l = (40 - b) m ..................(i)

now,

given,

area of the park = 400 m^2

=> l×b = 400

=> b(400-b) = 400 ......... ( from eqn. i )

=> 400b - b^2 = 400

=> b^2 - 40b + 400 = 0

now, this is a quadratic equation in terms of b

now, solving this eqn.,

=> b^2 -20b - 20b + 400 = 0

=> b(b-20) -20(b-20) = 0

=> (b-20)^2 = 0

=> b-20 = 0

=> b = 20

So,

the breadth is 20 m

Now,

the length = 40-b

= 40-20

= 20 m

since the lenghth and breadth are equal,

Therefore, It is a square.

So, rather saying length and breadth

we can say

its a square park of side 20 m.
