No, Lushkoff was not a willing worker . Due to his drinking habits , he was suspended from the RUSSIAN choir and was not willing to work . He was making others fool that he does not get the work but when Sergei want Lushkoff to work for him and to chop woods , he got trapped in his own words ..
he got agreed to do work becoz he had told Sergi that he wants to work but noone is giving work , Therefore Lushkoof agreed to chop wood for him

No, Lushkoff was not a willing worker. In spite of that, he agreed to chop wood for Sergei because of pride and shame. He had been trapped by his own words. His strength had been lowered because of drinking.
