ul stands for unordered list. li stands for list item. They are the HTML tags for "bulleted" lists as opposed to "numbered" lists (which are specified by ol for ordered list).
The ul and ol list tags. There are three types of lists. The first two are bulleted and numbered lists. Needless to say, those on high who name such things couldn't simply call them "Bulleted" or "Numbered", but "Unordered" and "Ordered"

Hi Himangi .....
OL is for ordered list.
UL is for unordered list.
LI is for entering items in a list.
None of them are empty tags.
Hope this helps you.☝☝
