Since both have a single principal vein or a midrib they both can be called similar, they contain xylem (dead connective tissue) and phloem (another dead connective tissue), they both help in smooth flow and transportation if water as a elementary substance. Both of the venations show and provide a mechanical support for these types of plants (having the leaves either as parallel venation or reticulated venation). Another set of similarity is they are leaves, so, always found in plant, they will always form a particular pattern, the final result of this will lead to pattern formed by veins of the leaves on the lead lamina.
