Yes, reading is still an important activity today. In children, it stimulates the brain and encourages them to look at newer perspectives. It inculcates creative thinking and allows all round development. The more you read the wiser you are said to get. Almost every successful person is a voracious reader by default. This cannot be mere chance. Reading jogs the mind in such a way that it sets you up to excel in other things.
