Is reservation of seats in India against the right to equality guaranteed by the constitution?
Points for the debate. The answer should be 'FOR' the motion.
(HINTS)
FOR means - You do not agree with reservation because our constitutional right is right to equality. So, reserving seats is against the Constitution.
AGAINST means - You do not agree with the Constitution and so believe that minorities, SC, ST, OBC and other minorities should be given special opportunities as they feel socially and politically oppressed, even though if it means going against our fundamental rights which is right to equality.

This is my understanding from what I have seen so I cant say this will be a satisfying answer.
Caste based reservation was proposed by Dr. B R Ambedkar, he proposed this at a time when lower caste people were not allowed to enter the house of the upper caste. He himself coming from a lower caste had to face a lot of hurdles due to his caste and saw that even if the lower caste wants to come out of poverty they could not since they were suppressed by the upper class.
There are a lot of successful people in today’s world who belong to the lower caste and that is all thanks to the reservations. They deserved it and the lower class(not caste) still deserve it.
But nowadays , reservation is being misused. Reservations proposed by Dr. Ambedkar was for the people who belong to the lower caste, those who didnt have any money with them to pay for their education. But now the well to do lower caste people are still claiming reservations for their kids or themselves even if they have money.
Gone are the days when all the lower caste people were poor. Now we have a lot of them who from the lower caste but belong to the upper middle class or upper class. These upper class and upper middle class are people who have money and can afford to provide education to their kids.
I believe reservation should be based on the level of income. If a Brahmin person is earning 10k per month doesnt get reservation for his kid just cause he belongs to an upper caste then its injustice to him and his kid. Similarly a lower caste guy who is earning more than a lakh per month uses reservation quota to send his kid to school or college is not fair for the tax payers.
And it is not only with regards to education, the reservation quotas are applicable to government offices as well. For a person to be promoted he/she has to write an exam, once the results are cleared the lower caste people get the privilege of using quota and they are able to move up quickly when compared to the others. Even after scoring good in the exams, people from the upper caste have to wait for years for a promotion only because the lower caste is given higher preference.
I believe reservation should be based on the income level and only for education purpose. To get a job, it has to be based on individual efforts, talent and his/her own merits, not based on his/her caste. And once the person has a job he/she should not be allowed to use the reservation quota for availing promotion.
Again this is my belief, the reservation should be stopped based on caste/creed/minority but it should be based on the income. I will not comment on the number of reservation because I believe that everyone has the right to be educated. I feel that the schools and colleges should stop charging such hefty price especially considering how backward our education system is.

we have gained independence for the past 72 years....and many of the socially and economically backward class during those times have gained strength and many are forward,at the same time erstwhile forward classes have seen a drift in their living conditions and many are living in dire poverty and without any social benefits,I have seen people from very rich families enjoying reservation and at the opposite in so called forward caste...so it's very high time that we abolish this reservation and transfer benefits purely on the basis of datas and census like the social economic caste census data

Based on what you've written, I want to ask that why we should abolish reservation?
