Is ROM volatile or non-volatile? Why? How is different from RAM?

ROM is non-volatile.it is permanent memory where the important things were stored such as boot,startup process....logo etc.we cannot modify it since it has been stored at manufacturing time at the factory itself.But RAM is temporary it is used upon the working of computer,RAM plays a vital role because it is used to load a program in it which you are using currently.
