Let me tell you my case. I took Maths as my primary subject for 10th and 12th. After passing twelfth, I switched to commerce and opted for CA.
The thing which benefited me the most was Maths. I solved the entire Maths and Stats portion on the day when I got my study Material and Practice manual from ICAI. This helped me a lot in focusing more on Accounts and Economics which are core commerce subjects. Trust me on this, studying Accounts, Economics and Law is no big deal. And even those who opts for commerce in their 11th and 12th don't get much of a benefit in Accounts as the level which they study in school vs what is required by CA curriculum differs way to much. Economics is their area to score. Law requires the same efforts by both Commerce and Maths student. But Maths and Stats surely make some difference. Most of the commerce students struggle to score the minimum marks i.e. 18 in Maths and Stats which proves to be the main reason for failure.
Commerce from a CBSE or ICSE school is good because it involves Maths also. But Commerce from a state board school surely make it difficult for you to cope up with Maths and Stats.
My Case: Opted for maths in 11th and 12th.....Switched to CA..... Scored 149 in CPT with quite ease and comfort.
