No, the mirrors in auto mobiles are convex mirrors , not plane mirrors.

Due to the diverging nature of the convex mirrors, the light rays appear to intersect at a point behind the mirror. Thus a convex mirror forms images behind the mirror. And also an image formed by a convex mirror is always diminished in nature, and formed between the focus and pole of the mirror. This is the reason why the images in a convex mirror are small .
