circumference (C) of a semicircle is only the curved shape of of the semicircle.

But Perimeter (P) is the total length of the outer side of semicircle.

Formula of Circumference of semicircle = πr or πd/2

to prove -

Circumference of Circle = 2πr

Semicircle is 1/2 of a circle, so circumference of semicircle =

1/2 × 2× πr = 2/2 ×πr

= πr

r = d/2

so circumference = πr = πd/2

Formula of perimeter of semicircle = πr +d or πr +2r or 1/2(πd) + 2r

to prove -

perimeter of semicircle = circumference of semicircle + diameter of semicircle

= πr +d

d = 2r

so perimeter = πr +2r
