Soap solution is basic. We can know by comparing its characteristics with that of a base. Soap is bitter in taste. Base have a property that they are soapy to touch. And that's what soap solution is! Now coming to components of soap, it is made from sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide and these are bases.
