No the sum or difference of a rational no. is rational number, but it is not possible in the case of irrational number.
For example-
Ist in the case of rational no.
3/4+2/4= 5/4
IInd in the case of irrational no.
4/0+2/3
= 12/0 + 2/3
= now it's not possible to get answer
